Cast and crew

A few characters might pop up from time to time in this blog. Here is what you need to know about them:
Lisa - my beautiful bride, soon-to-be mother of my child and medical social worker extraordinaire. She spends her time here.
The Boy Coming soon!My best work yet.
Mom - the woman that made me the man that I am. She’s a soon-to-be retired sixth grade math teacher and live-in nanny for me and Lisa.
The Bodyguard - my step-dad for the last 10 years. He’s a stand-up guy that is completely devoted to Mom and used to be Mary Kay’s bodyguard.
The Professor - my dear old dad. He teaches AP history in a high school, western civilization and U.S. history at a local junior college and a civil war course at a local university. He also drives a school bus and sleeps very little. I count him among my closest confidantes.
Unkie A-hole - my older brother. He used to beat me up and take my money when I was little, but we’ve been close friends ever since he left home. He’s married to The Doc, and thus “retired” at age 35 to play golf and PS3 full time. He simultaneously makes me feel jealous, disgusted and proud.
The Doc - married to Unkie A-hole. An anesthesiologist, liberal firebrand and one of the smartest people you’ll ever meet.
Ollie - our older cat. He’s an aging, aloof, barely domesticated alley cat that joined us at the end of our sophomore year at Texas Tech. We bought him for a case of Red Dog and he’s been worth every penny.
Harold - our younger cat. We adopted him after losing Abner. He’s historically been a pain in the ass, but is shaping up to be perhaps our best cat ever. Next to The Boy, he’s our most visible souvenir from our days in Baltimore.
The Poop Machine - seven-pound Maltese doted on by Mom, cared for by The Bodyguard, and harassed by Ollie and Harold. Favorite past-time: pooping in my office.
Lenny - next door neighbor in Baltimore. The subject of several early posts.
Mr. Plaid - my father-in-law; real life incarnation of Hank Hill, and I mean that as a compliment.
Mimi B - my mother-in-law, a retired kindergarten teacher who is anxiously awaiting the arrival of The Boy.
Mimi R - my paternal grandmother, a retired English professor. Our weekly discussions of politics and literature helped to keep me awake during long drives home during grad school.
Hammer - We met during our tenures at Belo. He’s one of the smartest marketing minds I know and I feel lucky to count him as a friend and mentor.
The Analyst - my web analytics partner at Meaningful Noise. I hired him to be my coordinator while I was at Belo, but he quickly showed me how much I don’t know.
Cadillac Man - traveling companion and drinking buddy. He’s another colleague from Belo whose knowledge of the automotive industry is unmatched. Despite his expertise, and the fact that he’s under 80, he drives a Cadillac with the sweetest Rascal rack I’ve ever seen. Also responsible for my love affair with Makers Mark.
Franklin - like a sister. Funny and fiercely independent, she’s always good at keeping you humble.
